Overview
APS is CODA’s most flexible 3-way loudspeaker for small to medium-sized venues. Being a hybrid of point source and line array technology, it allows adjacent cabinets to sum constructively in a fixed angle array. Arrays can be constructed horizontally or vertically, or single boxes can be used as stand-alone systems or as fill loudspeakers.
APS draws upon a number of CODA Technologies to achieve its exceptional performance. The DDC driver that provides the mid and high frequency sections of the array is a single coaxial annular ring diaphragm driver, meaning that both the high and low frequency sections are in phase as they exit the driver onto the waveguide, providing a phase accurate, low distortion sound right the way through the mid and high ranges, with exceptionally low distortion.
The waveguide itself is the APS-COUPLER . This not only defines the wide angle coverage of each cabinet, but allows all the drivers in the box to sum together to act as a single source, without phase cancellations in the horizontal plane. Different APS-COUPLERs are available to change the dispersion of each cabinet between 20° x 120°, 90°, 60° symmetrical or 20° x 105°, 90°or 75° asymmetric. APS can be ordered with whichever APS-COUPLER you require and additional angle APS-COUPLERs can be ordered as required.
Using different angle APS-COUPLER from the top to the bottom of a vertical array ( 60° at the top, 90° in the middle, 120° at the bottom) provide acoustic level shading through the array, meaning three cabinets can be used from one amplifier channel, while naturally compensating for high frequency loss over distance and the need for wider coverage at the bottom of the array where audiences are closer to the loudspeakers.
APS has a partner subwoofer in the APS-SUB, but you can select any CODA subwoofer to suit your needs.
